I've had pretty decent success with upromise mainly using the account in combination with the upromise credit card for dining When i was born my mother spend about $100 on a publix upromise card that supposedly when she shops there, it scans the barcode on the back and puts some of the money from her purchase into an account that could be saved and grown for college. Where i live, there's a decent amount of solid places to eat that participate, which nets me 12% back

So i call up nys 529 people and tell them to close the acct and send me check for the balance in there thinking it was under 2k.
